WHY WE SHOULD BE TALKING ABOUT POLITICS

We live in a world where we can not go a day without hearing something politically on the news or social media. In a world, where political events over the last couple of years have been huge; well any political event is huge, whether it is a local election, or an election for a new prime minister or president; new foreign tensions or foreign policy changes, politics effects everyones lives.

In the snap general election in June, it was one of the first elections where I have witnessed the majority of younger people on social media actively engaged in politics; although some were trying to tell other people how to vote based on their personal opinions and not what others would view important to them. However, the same occurred in the EU referendum, young people are getting more engaged in politics.

One day, our generation will be the ones running the country and the world, when you look at the bigger picture. We will be the ones that will be influencing other people, and it is important to get our opinions and ideas across.

Whether you have a political party preference, or have no idea what political party you will be voting for again in just under 5 years at the next general election; politics is something that everyone will have an opinion on, and it's important that the young voice is heard just as much as O.A.Ps. Whether we are engaged in politics via social media; watching the news; or as a member of a political party and actively engaging in party political politics, it is still important to get the across our view point and opinion.

4 SKILLS I WANT TO LEARN

The older I get, the more things that I suddenly want to achieve or new skills I want to learn. In my head I have a set of goals of things that I REALLY want to achieve, and a few things that I want to do for myself, to better me as a person. There are also a few skills that I want to learn because I never learnt them as a child and now I am 20, I still want to learn those skills for myself.

1. LEARN A LANGUAGE | Now I may have a GCSE in Spanish, which I say very lightly because I know the bare minimum and it definitely did NOT help when we were staying in an all speaking Spanish hotel last year. Last September I signed up to learn French at university, but pulled out after the class was at 8pm on Monday evening, like no thank you. However, as I am going to a country were they do speak French, maybe 2017/2018 is the year when I pick up a bit of french that is not just the basics.

2. PHOTOGRAPHY | I have this idea in my head that I will sign up to a photography class one day and actually learn how to use my camera, instead of keeping it on the automatic setting and hoping for the best.

3. SURF | One day I picture myself on a beach in Oz at a surfing camp. A family friend has recently been to a surfing camp in Australia and loved every moment of it. I know it sounds a weird one to include, but it always looks like a fun thing to do, even though I will probably be shit at it.

4. DECORATE A CAKE | Yes I know this sounds a weird one, but one thing I have always really struggled with is decorating cakes. I can bake, and if I say so myself pretty well, but decorating is a different level. I can never seem to get the icing right and it always looks a mess, even when I do follow the instructions in cook books and online recipes.

What skills do you want to learn?

I SPENT MY BOOTS ADVANTAGE CARD POINTS ...

Somehow over the last year I have managed to save up £91 on my Boots Advantage Card. Honestly I am not quite sure how it happened, but it happened.

Okay that's kinda a lie, I do know how it happened. I spend a pretty penny in Boots and the points started to add up. The Boots app is also great to add offers to your Advantage Card; as well as the vouchers they send through the post. Also the triple points day or weekend, is also a great help as well. So if you are going to go and spend £50, you can probably easily earn £10 worth of points in one shop. One time, I actually earned £15 worth of points and spent around about £50 thanks to loading offers onto my card from the app, using a voucher or two, and it was a triple point event. Winning.

In other words, download the Boots app and start building them points up.

For me, I didn't just want to spend my points on my normal shampoo, or deodorant, or maybe that suncream for holiday. I wanted to buy products that I probably would not buy normally. Like a little treat to myself, particularly as I wanted to get my hands on the Dior Plump and Volume Mascara, that I kept seeing everywhere. At the price tag of £25 I probably would not have normally have brought the mascara, and instead put it on the 2017 Christmas list. On the other hand, a product which I would have gone out and brought, is the L'oreal Paradise Mascara, which was all over my Instagram a couple of weeks back. Neither mascara I am yet to try out, but if they both live up to their hype, then hopefully points well spent.

Next on my list of products that I wanted to try / actually really needed, but probably do not really need in reality, is the Benefit Boi-ing concealer. Again, this has been a product that has been splashed around social media lately with the launch of their new design packaging, but it is also a product that I wanted to try out. Is it really industrial strength?

Did I really just spend £12 worth of points on a pair of travel tweezers? The answer to my question is yes, yes I did just spend £12. After years of seeing Tweezerman tweezers and them kinda being on my wish list, I finally picked up the travel size in pink. Okay, I mainly picked them up because they are pink and pink is just the best, okay.

Finally, going against the concept of buying things that I wouldn't normally buy but wanted as a treat to myself, are two products that I love and adore. Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish has been a favourite and a MUST now for a few years. I mainly picked up a new bottle as a back up for Canada, and the same goes with the Origins Ginzing eye cream, as I positively sure I will be still be using both in a months time.

JULY FAVOURITES 2017

July is always a busy and kinda crazy month, mainly because it is my birthday month, but also everything else wants to happen in July as well. Why, does this always happen like this?

July favourites - Mac Fanfare, Loreal, Dove

MAC Fanfare Lipstick
One of the newest MAC lipsticks to add to my slightly growing collection. I actually picked this one up at the airport in Majorca; I just looked at it, and fell in love. At the moment it is my perfect go to when I am feeling for a pink lip, especially lately when the summer weather has been dull and I still want my face to look summary. As a cremesheen, it does not dry my lips out, which is always a plus side.

Dove DermaSpa Lotion
I have been a fan of the Bondi Sands gradual tanner for a while now, but at £11 a bottle, there is a better and cheaper alternative out there; Dove. When Anna Saccone spoke about this Dove lotion is one of her videos last year, I kinda knew I needed to get my hands on it. It doesn't have a weird fake tan smell and drys quite quickly. It gives me skin a bit of tint when they are looking like a white sheet and helped to top up my tan after Majorca and the British Summer time disappearing.

Benefit Roller Lash
Do you ever forget about how much you love a product when you have not used it in over a year? Well this was the case with Benefit roller lash.

L'Oreal Hydra Genius Aloe Water
The L'oreal Hydra Genius Aloe water came into my life via a sample in a magazine; I took it on holiday with me and just loved the way it felt on my skin. Although I do have oily skin, it does not emphasis and oily patches and really does hydrate my skin in the morning and night. The Hydra Genius does came in a couple of ranges for different skin types, I have been using the 'normal to combination' hydra genius and it seems to have been really helping my skin out.

Hyde Park British Summer Time - Justin Bieber
When I started writing this post I was NOT expecting that I would be writing about the last EVER Purpose Tour show; it actually breaks my heart slightly (which you will probably know if you follow me on Twitter or Instagram). Apart from all the pushing and the mini arguments that seemed to happen all day with people wanting to get closer to the barrier, like you are not going to get to touch him or anything. The whole day was incredible. Martin Garrix is just WOW and Justin Bieber, well he was so happy, even with a cold, and his performance was just amazing. I had eye contact again and had the best time. Purpose Tour 4 of 4 was worth every moment and every penny and every hour queueing to get third/second row.

Riverdale
Riverdale, a program on Netflix, which I never expected to love or was never really on my radar. However, one episode in and I was in love with the characters and the show as a whole, plus Cole Sprouse clearly still had a place in my heart ever since The Suite Life of Zac & Cody. Bring on season 2.

42nd Street - West End Musical
For me the joy of a West End musical or show is really quite incredible. Ever since I was a young girl, maybe 4 or 5 when my parents took me to see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, going to London to see a West End Show has been one of my favourite things to do. This year for my 20th Birthday, my parents took me to see 42nd Street, which arguably is one of the BEST shows on the West End at the moment. From the tap dancing to the singing, it truly is well worth seeing the show. Also it is set in New York and I obviously love New York.

At Home With ..
I have never really been one with podcasts, they have never really interested me. It was not until I was in Majorca, when I was getting a bit bored round the pool and I didn't fancy reading a book or surfing social media when I just wanted to listen to something. 'At Home With..' is 10 episodes from Lily Pebbles and The Anna Edit, whom happen to be two of my favourite bloggers/youtubers, so it seemed the perfect podcast to listen too. Honestly, the 30 minute podcast episodes have made me find a place in my heart for podcasts and the guests have been so great. A personal favourite was the Liz Earle episode.

Dunkirk
I was nearly not going to include Dunkirk in this months favourites, but how I could I not when I really did enjoy the film. As a child that has been brought up in a household where her father would watch war films, I have been used to watching war films basically my whole life. Now, I did not go and see Dunkirk simply for Harry Styles, but more because I was interested in the film. I love how the film was set from three perspectives and how there is hardly any speaking, because it still draws you into the action.

What have you been loving in July?

AUGUST | THE TO DO LIST

When did August happen? And where has 2017 gone! Well August you have certainly made an apparence, probably just not with the weather that one would associate with summer and August as a whole. Here are a few things that I really need to do in August:

HAVE A WARDROBE CLEAR OUT | Now this one is on the monthly to do list every month, but honestly I actually have to have a wardrobe clear out in August, considering I move to Canada at the end of the month. That means digging out winter clothes and trying to create a capsule wardrobe that has every thing from summer clothes to -20 degrees clothes. Oh dear, please send help my way.

YOGA | Lately I have been really enjoying Yoga in my living room. Blogilates recently uploaded a video with her sister on Youtube and ever since I have been enjoying 10 - 15 minutes of yoga a few days a week. However, in August I want to get up 10 or 15 minutes earlier and start my day by trying to follow a yoga YouTube video do start the day off.

CREATE A BUDEGT | Okay, I may have already started this one in July but I need to put it into practice and start keeping up with what I am spending, saving up for and what I need to pay (hello Canadian health insurance that I actually need to pay. Oh and travel insurance).

Whats on your August to-do list?
