Hi Guys and Welcome to Blogmas Day 14!

There is nothing better than christmas treats to get you in a christmas mood, whether its a cold evening, or making food for friends coming round, or even christmas day treats. Food and home made backing feels extremely christmassy. All this week I will be sharing with your christmas food ideas that are all super easy to make. First up is mince pies!!

Mince Pies

When I was younger I used to hate mince pies, like I honestly could not stand them. However, after making them in food tech in like year 8 I now really like them, but for me they are at their best when they are homemade. My recipe is simple and easy and if you want to add a few things in them go for it!

All you will need:

- Short crust pastry
- mince meat
- 1 egg
- mild spice
- Baileys (You don't have to use alcohol it you don't want to, but if you do you can pick up miniatures in most supermarkets instead of buying a huge bottle for like £20)

The 'How To Part':

1) Dust some floor over your kitchen top or rolling board (are they what they are called, i'm not sure), this will just help to stop the pastry from sticking. Then just roll out your pastry till its about the thickness of a £1 coin.

2) Get two cutters (Big and Small), I like to use stars but you can use what ever you like. Simply just cut out about 12 bottoms (big cutters) and 12 tops (small cutters). Also, make sure you have greased a cupcake tray so the mince pies are easy to get out and then put the big shapes into the cupcake spaces.

3) In a bowl mix the mince meat and anything optional you want to add (spice, fruit, alcohol etc) and mix it together. Once it is all mixed add the mixtures to the big shapes in the cake tray.

4) Once the mixture is in all of the spaces, glaze the top of the mixture and any exposing pastry with a whisked egg to help the top stick to the rest of the pie.

5) Place the small shape on top of each pie. Then glaze the mince pies with egg and add a sprinkling of sugar.

6) Cook in the oven for 20 - 30 minutes at 180.

7) Serve them hot with cream or ice cream or let them cool.
